Boreland , Gaelic A 'Bhorlainn , is a village in the Scottish Council Area Dumfries and Galloway or in the traditional county of Dumfriesshire . It is located about eight kilometers northeast of Lockerbie at the confluence of the Boreland Burns in the Dryfe Water .

On nearby Carthur Hill , the remains of a hill fort testify to previous settlement. A chapel on the site is described as early as the 12th century. The Hutton and Corrie Parish Church , still in use today, was built in 1710.

Located in a sparsely populated region, Boreland is only connected to the road network via a side road. The B723 forms the main road. In the southwest it ends in Lockerbie. There the trunk roads A74 (M) and A709 can be reached.
