Boris Alexandrovich Tchaikovsky
Boris Alexandrowitsch Tschaikowski ( Russian Борис Александрович Чайковский , scientific transliteration Boris Alexandrovič Čajkovskij ; born September 10, 1925 in Moscow ; † February 7, 1996 ibid) was a Russian composer .
Music studies
Tchaikovsky acquired his basic musical knowledge at one of the most renowned music schools in Russia, the "Gnessins Moscow School of Music". Among his teachers were such well-known composers as Nikolai Mjaskowski , Wissarion Schebalin and Dmitri Shostakowitsch ( composition ) as well as Lev Oborin ( piano ).

Tchaikovsky occupies an important position in Russian music of the 20th century. But his great talent gradually developed. He created his first significant works in the late 1960s and early 1970s. These include
- Symphony No. 2 (1967)
- Theme and eight variations for orchestra (1973)
- Concerts for cello (1964), violin (1969) and piano (1971)
- Songs based on Alexander Pushkin (1972).
Among the later works the following stand out:
- Epic poem for Orchestra Weter Sibiri (Wind of Siberia)
- Song cycle Poslednaja Wesna (Last Spring) after Nikolai Sabolozki (1980)

- two programmatic symphonies: Sevastopolskaya (1980) and symphony with a harp (1993)
- Suite music for orchestra (1987)
- Cantata Znaki Zodiaka ( Signs of the Zodiac ) (1974)
- Six string quartets , a piano trio , a string trio , two piano sonatas, sonatas for violin and cello and piano and other chamber music .
Boris Tchaikovsky has written numerous film scores since the 1950s . B. for the films Balsaminov's Marriage , The Adolescent , Moscow, My Love and Journey across Three Seas . In 1985 he was awarded the title “ People's Artist of the USSR ”.
