Boris Viktorovich Falkow
Boris Wiktorowitsch Falkow ( Russian Борис Викторович Фальков ; born December 8, 1946 in Moscow ; † September 16, 2010 ) was a Russian writer and pianist . Member of the PEN Center Germany . After emigrating from the Soviet Union, he lived in Munich since 1987 .
Life
Boris Falkow studied at the Moscow and Leningrad Conservatoires . His first artistic life was that of a pianist . This later led him to Kiev and Donetsk . There he was professor of pianistics until his politically motivated dismissal. Numerous recordings for the Golden Radio Archives of the USSR. Record recording at Melodija , Moscow.
At the same time - and inevitably conspiratorially - he was already writing his first novels, which he was only able to publish after his departure in 1987.
Falkow sees himself in the tradition of Laurence Sterne , Jorge Luis Borges or Michail Bulgakow . It is not uncommon for his novels to be found in the Fantasy (Фантастика) category , even if the fantastic is intended to serve as alienation and surreal farce. The essence, on the other hand, is always real, current, precarious and subversive.
Three of his novels have been translated into German.
