Boris Ivanovich Prijmak

Boris Ivanovich Prijmak ( Russian Борис Иванович Приймак ; born May 29 . Jul / 11. June  1909 greg. In Novocherkassk ; † 17th February 1996 in Kiev ) was a Soviet architect .

Live and act

Prijmak graduated from the architectural faculty of the Kharkov Art Institute in 1930 . From 1955 to 1972 he was the chief architect of Kiev . He taught at the Kiev Art Institute (from 1971 as a professor). Prijmak's main works can be found in Kiev (partly together with other architects):

  • the general building plan of the city (1947),
  • the project of leveling and rebuilding the Khreshchatyk Boulevard (1945–1954),
  • the house on Leo-Tolstoi-Platz (1949–51),
  • the Kiev main post office (1952–1957),
  • the hotel “Moskva” (Готель “Москва” 1954–1961; today: Готель “Україна”, Hotel Ukrajina ),
  • the general building plan of the city up to 2000 and the project of the city center (1961–1967), as well
  • the metro stations : Завод "Більшовик" (Zavod "Bilschowyk" today: Шулявська, Schuljawska, 1963) and Нивки (Nywky, 1972).

Prijmak had been a member of the CPSU since 1952 . He was awarded the Order of Lenin , as well as other orders and medals. In 1970 he was awarded the title of Honored Architect of the People of the USSR .
