Boris Semjonowitsch Schechter
Boris Semyonovich Schechter ( Russian Борис Семёнович Шехтер ; born January 8 . Jul / 20th January 1900 greg. In Odessa ; † 16th December 1961 in Moscow ) was a Russian composer.
Schechter studied in Odessa with Witold Maliszewski and in Moscow with Sergei Wassilenko and Nikolai Mjaskowski . From 1929 to 1941 he taught at the Moscow Conservatory , then at the Conservatory of Ashkhabad .
He composed four operas , five symphonies , an orchestral suite, a piano concerto, two piano sonatas, three cantatas , choral works, drama and film music, songs and numerous mass songs .
