Witold Maliszewski

Witold Maliszewski (born July 8, 1873 in Mohyliw-Podilskyj ; † July 18, 1939 in Zalesie, Stare Babice ) was a Polish composer and music teacher.

Live and act

Maliszewski studied at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory with Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and directed the Odessa Conservatory from 1908 to 1921 , which he founded. He then taught composition at the Conservatory in Warsaw until 1925 and from 1931 . From 1925 to 1927 he directed the Fryderyk Chopin Music School . His most famous student was Witold Lutosławski , other students are Mykola Vilinsky , Bolesław Woytowicz , Feliks Roderyk Łabuński and Feliks Rybicki .

Maliszewski composed five symphonies, an orchestral fantasy, a piano concerto (1938), a suite for cello and orchestra, chamber music works, a Missa Pontificalis and a Requiem (both 1930).
