Boris Vallejo (born January 8, 1941 in Lima , Peru ) is an American illustrator of Peruvian origin.

Life

Boris Vallejo, born in Lima as the son of a lawyer , emigrated to the USA after graduating from the National School of Fine Arts in 1964 , where he still lives today. Vallejo has become famous above all for fantasy paintings, which primarily depict lightly clad, muscular heroes and warriors. Models and role models are often bodybuilders . His pictures adorned numerous calendars, movie posters and book covers. He is married to the artist Julie Bell .

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Vallejo illustrated the US reissue of the Gor series by the author John Norman by Ballantine Books.

In 1979 he received the British Fantasy Award for The Amazing Princess and Her Pet .
