Borzeşti is a cadastral municipality of the city of Oneşti in eastern Romania in Bacău County .
Geographical location
The place is located at an altitude of about 250 m in the Trotuș Valley in the eastern foothills of the Culmea-Petricica Mountains, in the Romanian region of Moldova . At the mouth of the Gutinaş stream in the Trotuş , the Sfântu Gheorghe – Siculeni – Adjud railway line and on the national road ( drum național ) DN 11A, Borzeşti borders the city of Oneşti in the northwest.
Attractions
The medieval church Adormirea Maicii Domnului ( Assumption of Mary ) was built by the Moldovan voivod Stefan the Great on the place where his friend was killed by Tatars. The interior of the church was painted in 2004 in honor of the 500th anniversary of the death of the Moldovan prince. It is an architectural monument, was built in 1494 and is a listed building.
Personalities
Ștefan cel Mare or Stefan the Great (1433–1504), Moldovan prince from 1457 to 1504, was born here.
