The rose variety 'Boscobel' (Syn .: 'AUScousin') is a light to salmon pink colored, frequently flowering shrub rose , which was introduced by David Austin in September 2012 in Great Britain . 'Boscobel' belongs to the English Leander hybrid subgroup of English roses . The rose was created by crossing two unnamed, unpatented hybrids .

education

The bushy, upright growing rose 'Boscobel' forms a compact, strong, medium-sized shrub. The rose plant becomes 90 to 100 centimeters high and 60 to 75 centimeters wide.

The mostly individually arranged flowers from up to 78 curved petals form a bowl-shaped, densely filled flower. The petals are arranged in a rosette. A bowl-shaped rosette develops from a round bud of light pink petals with a light yellow background. Depending on the age of the flower, the flower color changes between light pink, salmon pink and apricot-colored and later fades. The flowers are 8 to 12 cm in size. The rain-resistant flower is characterized by a long flowering period of over 10 days. The flowers are characterized by a long-lasting, strong scent of myrrh with nuances of elderflower and almond .

The rose has medium to dark green, robust, glossy leaves.

The remounting rose is hardy ( USDA climate zones 5b to 10b) and rainproof. It blooms continuously from June to autumn and is resistant to the well-known rose diseases .

The rose is suitable for middle ground planting of flower borders, mixed borders - for example together with cranesbill and lavender - and cottage gardens . The rose 'Boscobel' is suitable for growing as a high stem .

The rose variety 'Boscobel' is shown in numerous rosariums and gardens around the world, including the rose garden in Baden-Baden , in the rose garden of Ippenburg Castle , in the rosarium in Doblhoffpark in Baden near Vienna or in the Roseraie Princesse Grace in Monaco.

Naming

The Boscobel rose variety is named after Boscobel House , a manor house built in 1632 in the parish of Boscobel in Shropshire. Boscobel House is part of the English Heritage state institution . During the English Civil War, while fleeing from Oliver Cromwell's troops , Charles II hid in an old oak tree in the manor house .
