Bourke Island is a small coral island in the center of the Torres Strait Islands archipelago . The flat, uninhabited island is 600 meters long and 300 meters wide. It is located in the northwest of a 3.61 km² reef platform.
The island is named for the group of the Bourke Islands extending west of it , which administratively belong to the Central Islands , an island region in the administrative district of Torres Shire in the Australian state of Queensland .
