Aureed Island is a small coral island in the center of the Torres Strait Islands archipelago . The flat island is 1.7 kilometers long and a maximum of 400 meters wide. It is located in the northwest area of a 6.30 km large reef platform. It rises barely a meter above sea level and is only sparsely overgrown.
In terms of area, Aureed is the largest island of the seven Bourke Islands and administratively belongs to the Central Islands , an island region in the administrative district of Torres Shire in the Australian state of Queensland .
The island is uninhabited.
