Bouznika ( Arabic : بوزنيقة, Zentralatlas-Tamazight ⴱⵓⵣⵏⵉⵇⴰ ) is a city with approx. 45,000 inhabitants in the province of Benslimane in the Moroccan region of Casablanca-Settat in the north of the historical region of Chaouia .
Location and climate
The city of Bouznika is located about 52 km (driving distance) northeast of Casablanca or just 42 km southwest of the Moroccan capital Rabat at an altitude of about 10 to 45 m . The climate influenced by the Atlantic is temperate to warm; Rain (approx. 460 mm / year) falls almost exclusively in the winter half-year.

A large part of today's population is of Berber descent and has immigrated from the mountain and desert regions of Morocco since the 1960s.
economy
Until the early 20th century, Bouznika was just a self-sufficient fishing and farming village. Since the last decades of the 20th century, inner Moroccan bathing tourism has also played an important role in the city's economic life.
history
In 1858 Sultan Mulai Abd ar-Rahman had a fortress ( kasbah ) built in the hinterland , around which a new place gradually developed. However, the population explosion did not begin until after Morocco gained independence (1956).

The national stud (haras) of Morocco was established in 1994 in an old kasbah between Bouznika and El Mansouria .
