The Box Reef is a reef consisting of small rock islands between the Esplin Islands and League Rock off the southern end of the West Antarctic Adelaide Island .

The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1963 in connection with the naming of the nearby Cox Reef in a literary allusion to the farce Box and Cox by the British playwright John Maddison Morton (1811-1891) about two people who alternate between day and night share an apartment without knowing each other.
