Boz Boorer (actually Martin James Boorer ; born May 19, 1962 in Edgware , Middlesex ) is an English musician (instruments: guitar , saxophone , banjo , clarinet ).

In his youth he played in several rockabilly bands, including The Polecats to this day . In 1991 he replaced Mark Nevin as guitarist for the singer Morrissey . Since then he has been a permanent part of the band and writes the music to Morrissey's lyrics together with Alain Whyte .

Boorer also produces music in his Serra Vista Studio , located in the Serra de Monchique on the Portuguese Algarve coast , and he works with long-time companions such as Edwyn Collins and Adam Ant .

In 2012 he released his new solo album Some Of The Parts on the Viennese label Fabrique Records .

In June 2014 Boz Boorer released Girl From Atlanta, a new solo single with Art Brut singer Eddie Argos.

After almost four years of studio work, Boorer released his new solo album Age Of Boom in October 2016 , again on Fabrique Records. In addition to guest singers such as Eddie Argos, Tom Walkden from the British band Wolventrix , James Maker, Georgina Baillie, Ben Mark, Alex Lusty, Tracy Vandal and 'Limey' Dave Dahlson are represented on the album.

Morrissey also calls Boorer "Machine Gun".
