Fabrique Records is an independent Austrian label specializing in indie and electronic music .

history

The label was founded in the late autumn of 2001 by Christian Rösner and Michael Martinek in Vienna in order to offer a musical home to artist friends such as Mauracher , Konsorten TM or Thomas Pötz alias Kava. By the end of 2004 there was also a small label branch including label nights in London and supported the international orientation. In 2002, the in-house publisher Edition Fabrique was finally launched, followed by the electronic sister label Stereoalpine in the summer of 2004, which in 2007 went up again in full with all the artists in the parent label Fabrique Records. In June 2007, Fabrique celebrated the label's five-year existence with an album that includes exclusive contributions from Waxolutionists , TNT Jackson , MTV legend Ray Cokes and electronics pioneer Hans-Joachim Roedelius .

In 2008 a double album was released in cooperation with the Museum Gugging , for which the two Fabrique artists Thomas Pötz and Hans-Joachim Roedelius produced acoustic portraits of the most important Gugging Art brut artists such as Oswald Tschirtner or August Walla and, as part of the newly founded music & Art festivals Gugging Irritationen premiered.

In September 2012 Fabrique Records celebrated its 10th anniversary. The current Fabrique artist pool includes the indie, pop and electronic artist Loretta Who, the New York multi-instrumentalist and singer Heidemann, the Berlin sound and media artist Jana Irmert, the art pop duo DRAMAS, the synthpop act Lovecat , or the London band Wolventrix and the British avant-garde composer Christopher James Chaplin. In addition, Fabrique released new solo albums in August 2012 and September 2016 by Boz Boorer , the British guitarist, songwriter and longtime musical director of British singer Morrissey . In autumn 2012 Fabrique presented the first audio book in collaboration with the Austrian writer Peter Turrini and texts by the Art brut artist August Walla .

Since February 2015 Fabrique has been working with cameraman and filmmaker Paul Wex and cameraman Bernhard Roschitz on a documentary about Lubomyr Melnyk , the pianist and founder of "Continuous Music".
