Dubblestandart is a dub band from Vienna that has been around band leader Paul Zasky since 1988. The band is known for their live sets, which they refer to as Hi-Energy Dub or 21st Century Dub. They have played many concerts in Europe , Canada and the United States since the mid-1990s . In addition to their activity as a live band or backing band for Lee Scratch Perry , Ariup , Dillinger or Lilien Allen, they have so far released eleven studio albums , a range of 12-inch or maxi-CD recordings and various remixes for Waldeck or ElodieO. Their most successful album to date is Return From Planet Dub, which was released in 2009 and was produced with Lee Scratch Perry and Ariup.

Dubblestandart has collaborated with a number of well-known international singers, musicians and producers on the previous releases. These include Sly & Robbie , Mad Professor , Lee Scratch Perry, Ariup, Dillinger, Sounds From The Ground, Dreadzone, The Rootsman , Manasseh, Keith LeBlanc , Mark Stewart , Supermax , Subatomic Sound System, Jahdaan Blackamore, Doctor Marshall, Ken Boothe , Devon Denton, Topcat, Mikey Dread , Dub Syndicate ao

On the album Return From Planet Dub, film director David Lynch is also represented as a guest vocalist on the number Chrome Optimism, which is a dub- reggae adaptation of Jean Michel Jarre's Oxygen Part 4.

Together with Lee Scratch Perry and Ariup they gave a concert at the Centralpark Summerstage in New York City in 2009, which marked a high point of their careers. Dubblestandart first worked with Lee Scratch Perry in 1992. This was followed by an excursion in the more pop-oriented direction in the early 1990s with the album Egalica, released on the then very well-known Austrian label GiG Records . The album, released by Gig Records, reached two top ten placements in the Austro Top 40 of 1994/95.

Dubblestandart was discovered in 1992 by music journalist Walter Gröbchen when they won the DJ competition of the only independent music broadcast on the Austrian popular radio station Ö3 at the time, Musicbox . The excursion into the popular subject and the Austrian mainstream lasted only a short time, however, and Dubblestandart returned to their original style, dub music, in 1996.

In 2010 the twelfth album Marijuana Dreams was released on the German label Collision Records / Echo Beach. It contains reworks and unreleased versions of Dubblestandart songs with guest vocalists such as William S. Burroughs , Anthony B , Lee Scratch Perry, Elephant Man and Gudrun Liemberger .
