Walter Groebchen (born April 17, 1962 in Vienna ) is an Austrian journalist, blogger, author and music publisher.

Life

Gröbchen gained his first experience in the media industry in the early 1980s as a co-founder and editor of etcetera - magazine for youth culture . From November 1981 to 1993 he was a permanent freelancer for ORF radio and worked for the programs Musicbox , Freizeichen , Rot-Weiß-Rotes Radio , Radio Gaga and Nachtradio on Ö3 and Diagonal on Ö1 . From 1992 Gröbchen was responsible for the Ö3 program monitoring and development. In addition to his work as a radio maker, he published as a freelance journalist in profil , Die Zeit , Weltwoche , Der Standard , Wiener , Financial Times , Rolling Stone , Datum and Falter .

From 1993 Gröbchen was also responsible as an A&R manager for various music companies such as BMG , Warner Music and Universal Music in Germany and Austria.

Gröbchen has also been active in business since 2000, initially as a partner in Exozet Neue Medien Produktion Wien GmbH (until 2008) and as a member of the supervisory board of Neue Sentimental Film Austria AG (until 2009).

Since February 2000, Gröbchen has been the unrestrictedly liable partner of Monkey Music, Gröbchen & Partner OG and, since January 2005, managing partner of monkey.moods Verlags GmbH . Via the latter company, he holds 5% of the shares in Entspannungsfunk Gesellschaft mbH , which operates the LoungeFM radio station , and acts there as “Head of Music”. monkey. is a communication and consulting agency with an affiliated label and publisher. Furthermore, Groebchen curates the Live @ RKH series (a podium for new pop music from Austria) in the large broadcasting hall of the ORF radio station in Vienna.
