The bridge rest house Frankenwald is the gastronomic part of the two motorway service stations Frankenwald Ost and Frankenwald West on the A 9 north of Hof, immediately before the Thuringian border in Bavaria . It is located at exit 30 ( Rudolphstein ) above the Saale .

The bridge rest house in Frankenwald is one of two motorway rest stops in Germany that were designed as a bridge restaurant . In 1967 it was put into operation as the first bridge service station in Germany and offered a view of the then inner-German border . In addition, only the younger Dammer Berge service station still exists on the A1 . At that time, the Frankenwald rest area was next to the processing facilities for the police and customs.

The bridge rest house Frankenwald belongs economically to the municipality of Berg and is run by Albert & Michael Vogler GmbH . It is self-service and has around 250 seats, 20 of which are on a terrace.
