history

The stabilized roof turret

The Brünnl Chapel was first mentioned in a document in 1793. At this time, the miraculous image, a copy of the representation of Our Lady by Lucas Cranach the Elder, was created. Ä. , donated for the chapel. The original of the picture is in Innsbruck . In 1804 the chapel had to be demolished by order of the state, the miraculous image came to the Baumgartner parish church.

At the urging of the population, a smaller wooden chapel was built on the old square directly at the source in 1838. In 1849 a larger chapel began to be built a hundred meters above the old location. After completion, the chapel was consecrated on Easter Tuesday, 1850.

In 1976 a major renovation of the chapel was necessary, including underwork and new foundations. During the redesign of the interior, the numerous votive tablets, some of which still come from the old chapel, were removed from the gable end, hung in the apse of the chapel and secured by a grid in the choir arch. In the 1980s there were again enormous cracks in the altar area and severe damage to the stucco of the choir arch and the windows.

A comprehensive renovation began in March 1998. The roof was completely renovated, the roof structure partially renewed due to serious defects and the choir arch was hung with core drilling and heavy screwing - vertically and horizontally. The tower had to be stabilized and re-covered.

Equipment of the renovated chapel in 1998

The new altar fitted particularly well into the group of images of grace. Thanks to the great help of the population, it was possible to celebrate the inauguration of the renovated chapel in September 1998.

Votive offerings from more recent times (1994/95/98/99) bear witness to the fact that this Lady Chapel is still visited today. The 150th anniversary was celebrated on Whitsunday 2000.

Brünnl source

The new spring was inaugurated as part of a solemn devotion to Mary. The real origin of the Brünnl pilgrimage has become visible and audible again.
