Bracciola Nera
Bracciola Nera is a red wine variety that is grown in the Italian region of Tuscany . It is generally not made into a single variety, but used as a blending partner . Its cultivation is permitted in the provinces of Massa-Carrara and Pistoia . A good table wine is made from it near Massa . At the beginning of the 1990s, the area under vines was only 19 hectares .
Ampelographic varietal characteristics
In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:
- The shoot tip is open. It is slightly whitish with flaming wool. The young leaves are hairy like a cobweb and yellow-greenish in color.
- The medium-sized leaves are five-lobed and indented to a medium depth. The stem bay is open in a U-shape. The sheet is serrated to a point. The teeth are closely set compared to other varieties. The leaf surface (also called the leaf blade) is slightly blistered.
- The cylindrical grape is large, long and semi-dense. The round berries are medium-sized and blue-black in color. The peel of the berry is medium-thick.
The vigorous grape variety ripens about 30 days after the Gutedel and is therefore considered to ripen very late.

The Bracciola Nera grape variety is also known under the names Barciuola, Bracciola, Bracciula, Bracciuola, Braciola, Brassola, Brassora, Brazolata and Rappalunga.
