history

In 1857, two sons of German-born Karol August Henneberg (1808–1864), Juliusz (1835–1907) and Wilhelm (1844–1917), together with Michał Czajkowski, founded a factory for the manufacture of tableware and cutlery. The two brothers had previously worked in Józef Fraget's cutlery factory in Warsaw. The new company was initially located at 7 Ceglana Street in Warsaw . In 1862 production was moved to the building at ul.Wolska 17 . In the following year a third brother, Wilhelm Henneberg, was accepted into the group of shareholders. This was followed by the company name in Bracia Henneberg i Czajkowski . The company specialized in silver-plated cutlery and housewares ( plating ). In 1872 Czajkowski left the company and in 1894 the name was changed to a limited partnership : "Bracia Henneberg" - Fabryka Platerów . At the beginning of the 20th century, 321 people were employed. The company operated several sales outlets in Warsaw as well as in other Polish cities. Henneberg goods were also offered in Irkutsk , Kraków , Kiev , Constantinople , Moscow , Odessa , St. Petersburg , Tehran , Tbilisi and Vilnius . 1907 came Józef Strasburger and two sisters of Julian Henneberg (Józefa Marendowska and Emilia Mullerowa) in the company and invested in the purchase of modern machines to expand production to nickel - alloys enabled. Henneberg articles have been shown and awarded at many international exhibitions, for example in St. Petersburg (large silver medal, 1861), Moscow (small gold medal, 1865), St. Petersburg (silver medal, 1870) and in Paris (gold medal, 1889).

In 1936 the production of stainless steel cutlery began under the “Nikora” brand; the new product segment developed very successfully. In 1938 160 workers were employed. During the Second World War, the factory was 90% destroyed. Nationalization and reconstruction followed. In January 1965, the company was merged with the former factory of Józef Fraget to form Warszawska Fabryka Platerów HEFRA (= HEnnebergFRAget).
