Brad Goode

Brad Goode (born October 10, 1963 in Chicago ) is an American jazz trumpeter (also flugelhorn , double bass , drums , keyboards ) and university teacher.

Life

Brad Goode took violin lessons when he was four, then switched to guitar and eventually cornet. During high school he made his first professional appearances as a bassist and trumpeter. He studied with the trumpeter Vince DiMartino at the University of Kentucky , then bass with Larry Gray in Chicago at DePaul University , where he obtained his master's degree in 1987. From the mid-1980s he performed in the Green Mill jazz club . From 1986 to 1998 he led his own formations in Chicago, including a. with Von Freeman ; he also played with Rosemary Clooney , Red Rodney , Jack DeJohnette , Al Cohn ,Curtis Fuller , Eddie Harris , Ira Sullivan and Frank Morgan . He taught a. a. at the American Conservatory of Music, Cuyahoga Community College, the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, and the University of Colorado at Boulder , where he currently teaches as an Associate Professor . In 1989 he released his post-bop- oriented debut album Shock of the New on Delmark Records , followed by productions for labels such as Steeplechase and Origin Records . In the field of jazz, Goode participated in 27 recording sessions between 1988 and 2010.
