Braden "Brady" Murray (born August 17, 1984 in Brandon , Manitoba ) is an American - Canadian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with HC Lugano in the Swiss National League A. Since he got his first gaming license in Switzerland while his father Andy Murray was coach of EV Zug , he does not fall under the quota of foreigners in Swiss gaming.
Career
Murray initially served on the Shattuck St. Mary’s ice hockey team in the United States' high school league system from 2001 to 2002 . He then went on the ice in the Canadian Junior League British Columbia Hockey League with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks , in which he scored a total of 101 points scorer in 59 games. From 2005 to 2007, the offensive player played for the University of North Dakota in the National Collegiate Athletic Association .
Since his father Andy had good contacts to the Swiss ice hockey scene and in particular to the coach of the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers Bill Gilligan at the time , Brady Murray received a contract offer from the Lakers in autumn 2005, with which he was able to convince after initial difficulties and in his second season in 38 Playing the qualification scored 32 points.
This development was not hidden from the scouts of the Los Angeles Kings , who had selected the striker in the fifth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft in a total of 152nd position, and so they ordered Murray into National Hockey after the end of the 2006/07 season League . However, the breakthrough in North America did not come and Murray only completed four NHL games. The rest of the season he played for the Los Angeles Kings farm team , the Manchester Monarchs , in the American Hockey League .
After this trip to North America, Murray has been back in the Swiss National League A for HC Lugano since the 2008/09 season . His personal record of points in a game in the National League A dates from December 5, 2008, when he scored four goals and one assist against EHC Biel .
His younger brother Jordan was also under contract with HC Lugano from March 2012.
In January 2015, Murray was loaned to the Kloten Flyers until the end of the season.
International
At the international level, Murray represented the US national team at the U20 World Youth Championship in 2004 , with the attacker running up in six games and contributing two goals to the gold medal win.
