Brahim Shirtani (born March 15, 1978 in Colombes , France ) is a former Algerian football player. Mostly he is used in midfield . His family is originally from Larbaâ Nath Irathen (near Tizi Ouzou ) in Algeria .

Career

The Algerian football player, who was born in France, got his first professional contract with RC Paris in 1996 , where he played for a year and then moved to AS Cannes . Racing Strasbourg also signed the Algerian after a year . After three years he moved from his relegated club RC Strasbourg within the French league to Olympique Marseille . Here he established himself in the regular team and made a total of 118 missions and two goals. In the summer of 2005 he moved to the Glasgow Rangers , where he has a contract until 2009. His first game at the new club was delayed due to an injury. In October he played for the Rangers for the first time in the game against Dundee United .

In the final of the 2008 UEFA Cup, he made his last game for the Rangers. He was then suspended by coach Walter Smith and played the 2008/09 season not a single time for the Scots.

Since July 1, 2009 he was without a club. Shirtani ended his career after a long period without a club.

National team

Shirtani played for the French U-21 national team, but decided in February 2008 against a further engagement in the French national team.

On May 31, 2008, he played his first international match for Algeria against Senegal.

successes

Shirtani celebrated his greatest successes with the Glasgow Rangers. Here he was both league cup winners 2007/08 and second in the UEFA Cup in 2008. The Rangers failed 2-0 at Zenit St. Petersburg , Shirtani was replaced in the 80th minute for Lee McCulloch . In 2004 he finished second in the UEFA Cup when he and Olympique Marseille lost 2-0 in the final at Valencia CF.
