The Brandt Cove is a small bay in the southeast of South Georgia . It is 1.5 km north of the head of Larsen Harbor on the south side of Drygalski Fjord .
The South Georgia Survey mapped it as part of its 1951-1957 survey campaign . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1958 after the German-American economist Karl Brandt (1899-1975), author of an economic analysis of whaling after World War II published in 1948 .
