Branko Skroče

Branko Skroče (born May 17, 1955 in Zadar , Yugoslavia ) is a former Yugoslav basketball player who was world champion in 1978 and Olympic champion in 1980.

The 1.95 m tall Branko Skroče played from 1972 to 1982 as well as 1983/1984 and 1986/1987 in the Yugoslav league at KK Zadar . In 268 games he scored 5347 points, which corresponds to an average of 20.0. He was in seventh place in the all-time scorer list. 1974 and 1975 he was Yugoslav champion with KK Zadar.

1974 Branko Skroče became Junior European Champion. At the World Basketball Championship in Manila in 1978 there was initially a final round in which the Yugoslavs remained undefeated. The first two teams of the final round met in the final, Yugoslavia won against the USSR team with 82:81 after extra time. Skroče was used in seven games and scored a total of 60 points.

Two years later there was also a final round at the 1980 Olympic Games . In the final, the two best teams from the final round met each other. The Yugoslavs defeated the Italians with 86:77 points. Skroče was used in three games and scored 8 points over the course of the tournament.

In 1981 the team from the Soviet Union won the European basketball championship in Czechoslovakia in 1981, ahead of the Yugoslavs with 84:67, Branko Skroče scored 46 points in seven games.
