Tasks of the bank

The bank offers several financial support mechanisms for Brazilian companies as well as public administrations to realize investments in all economic sectors. The BNDES accompanies you from the analysis phase to the monitoring and places three factors that it considers strategic in the foreground: innovation, local development and socio-ecological development.

The bank is not really a bank. For example, it does not accept any deposits and is owned by the federal government of Brazil; there are no private shareholders. It has some equity, otherwise it is mainly financed through social security contributions. Since the BNDES pays for all of its activities from its own funds or from publicly managed pots, it is not exposed to financial market turbulence, even if its debt ratio increases.

Possible support should equally take into account the sustainability of the financing measures and the competitiveness of the costs, from the development of the investment projects to the acquisition of machines and new equipment which are produced in the country. But they should also generally lead to an increase in the Brazilian export economy. The company also made its contribution to the structural strengthening of private companies at the level of capital and the development of the capital markets.

Subsidy programs
