The Brattodden (English: Abrupt Point ) is a rocky headland about 5 km southwest of the Patricia Islands on the west side of Edward VIII Bay on the coast of the Antarctic Kemplands .
Norwegian cartographers recorded the cape using aerial photographs taken during the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 . His "sudden" discovery gave it its name. According to a survey carried out by scientists from the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions in 1954, the Antarctic Names Committee of Australia (ANCA) translated the Norwegian name into English .
