The Brown puffer ( Tetraodon miurus ) is one of Africa originating puffer -Art. It is also known under the names of the Congo puffer fish and the box puffer fish .

description

The brown puffer fish can reach a maximum length of 15 centimeters and is very variable in its color appearance. It varies between red-orange, ocher yellow, dark brown, light brown and even almost black. It has a suitcase-shaped, angular body shape. Its eyes are on the top of its head so it can burrow in the sandy bottom for prey . The mouth is also on top. Like all puffer fish, it can inflate in danger.

Way of life

The brown puffer fish is a solitary lurking predator that lurks for hours buried in the sandy bottom for prey swimming by. In the wild, this fish is usually found alive individually.

distribution

Its distribution area is the Congo Basin . Type locality of the brown puffer fish is the Ubangi near Banzyville.
