The scholarly contributions to the Braunschweigische advertisements , for short mostly just referred to as scholarly contributions , were originally an integral part of the newspaper Braunschweigische advertisements , first published on January 2, 1745 in quarto format , which had been founded by Duke Karl I of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel . The “Scholarly Contributions” were scientific articles that were separated from the “Advertisements” in 1761 and were published separately from then on. The first edition of "Scholars Beytrage" appeared on January 3, 1761 with an edition of 200 copies. The authors of the essays were mostly professors from the Collegium Carolinum .

description

From 1761 to 1777 Justus Friedrich Wilhelm Zachariae was editor of the "Beytrag". In 1788 the title was changed to Braunschweigisches Magazin , which was retained until the beginning of 1869. The successor to Zachariae as editor was Johann Joachim Eschenburg . From 1895 to 1931 Paul Zimmermann edited the magazine, from 1902 to 1922 on behalf of the history association founded in 1901 for the Duchy of Braunschweig .

In 1934, under pressure from the National Socialists , the newspaper was forcibly merged with the official NSDAP organ, the Braunschweiger Tageszeitung . The last issue of the Nazi paper appeared on April 10, 1945.
