The Braunsteffer Lake is a 800 m long lake on the Ingrid Christensen Coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth country . It is located 1.5 km west of Lake Zvezda in the Vestfold Mountains .
Aerial photos of the lake were taken during the US Operation Highjump (1946–1947). It was mapped using aerial photographs taken in 1956 by a Soviet Antarctic expedition and those taken during the 1957 to 1958 campaign as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia (ANCA) named the lake after Claude Braunsteffer, a weather observer at Davis Station in 1959 who was involved in exploring the lakes in the Vestfold Hills.
