Breeding the Spawn ( English for breeding, the spawn ') is the third official publication of the New York death metal band Suffocation .
background
As with the previous album, Dan Seagrave drew the cover picture. The music is more technical compared to Effigy of the Forgotten , but not played as fast anymore. For the release, Chris Richards replaced Josh Baron on bass. After the album was released, Suffocation went on an extensive tour. After the tour ended, drummer Mike Smith left the band and formed a rap band. He didn't return to Suffocation until 2003 when the band reunited.
There were negative reviews for the poor production of the album. The band has therefore decided to gradually re-record all tracks and to re-publish them with future albums. The song Breeding the Spawn is now in a newly recorded version on the album Pierced from Within and the song Prelude to Repulsion is also newly recorded on the album Suffocation . According to an interview with Mike Smith in Rock-Hard magazine, the remaining songs will follow.
