The Breitenstein is a 956 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Mühlviertel in Upper Austria . It is located north of the community center of Kirchschlag near Linz . It is a mountain for excursions near the state capital Linz . On its summit there is a summit cross and the observation tower, the Dr.-Walter-Amon-Warte .
From the Amonwarte on the wooded summit, the view extends over the Haselgraben to Linz , to Bad Leonfelden , to the Sternstein and to the Hansberg and, on a clear day, to the Alps.
Some hiking trails lead to the Breitenstein, for example. B. von Kirchschlag, Hellmonsödt, Zwettl and Untergeng.
Amonwarte
The 22 meter high observation tower is an accessible radio tower with a platform from OÖ Ferngas AG. It was built in 1980 and is named after the first managing director of Upper Austria, who was in office from 1957–1987. Ferngas, Dr. Walter Amon.
