Bremen bunker murder

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On August 24, 1999, a double murder of a Kurdish couple was committed near the Valentin submarine bunker in the Bremer district of Rekum . The perpetrators, who are said to come from circles close to the PKK , were sentenced to prison terms of between 13 and 15 years. This case was best known in the media as the "bunker murder" .

Procedure and process

The victims of Kurdish origin - 18-year-old Ayse Dizim and 23-year-old Serif Alpsozman  - were both activists of the banned Kurdish Workers' Party PKK. Before Serif Alpsozman came to Germany in 1994, he had fought in Turkey some time before, until he was seriously injured by an artillery shell and since then has been paralyzed in a wheelchair. In circles close to the PKK he was considered a war hero ( Ghāzī ). He found accommodation with Ayse Dizim's family and the two fell in love. Since the severely handicapped and possibly childbearing Alpsozman was out of the question for the family as a possible husband, the pressure grew on the two, who were secretly engaged in spring 1999 and also secretly married on May 19, 1999 in a mosque in Bremen- Gröpelingen . The pressure grew and PKK officials demanded the separation of the two. After a last attempt to change their minds both failed, they were driven to Bremen- Rekum on the night of August 24 and killed there. Ayse Dizim was suffocated in the Weserschlick , shortly afterwards Alpsozman was pushed in front of a car and run over several times, then his face was hit with a wrench. When he was found, he lived a brief moment.

The perpetrators were sentenced at the Bremen Regional Court in April 2001 to 13 and 15 years' imprisonment. Since the jury had judged the act as manslaughter and not murder , the first judgment was overturned by the Federal Court of Justice. The case was renegotiated in 2002 at the Bremen Regional Court and the first judgment was confirmed with amendments (one defendant's sentence was reduced by two years) in spring 2003.

In 2014 it became known that the complaint filed by the public prosecutor's office at the Bremen Regional Court had not been dealt with for aiding and abetting in the bunker murder for 14 years. The Bremen citizenship dealt with this case. On January 22, 2015, the Bremen Regional Court announced that the opening of the main proceedings had been rejected.
