The Brennabor type AL is a passenger car of the upper-middle class , which the Brennabor-Werke 1928 in addition to the smaller type Z brought out.
The vehicle had a 6-cylinder SV series engine with a displacement of 2.55 liters at the front. It developed 45 hp at 3300 rpm. It drove the rear wheels via a single-disc dry clutch and a four-speed gearbox with a gearshift lever in the middle of the car. The cars with U-profile pressed steel frames had rigid axles with semi-elliptical longitudinal leaf springs and were only available as a four-door Pullman sedan. The mechanical footbrake worked on all four wheels, the handbrake on the cardan shaft .
In the following year, a short AK chassis was offered in addition to the long AL chassis . The otherwise technically identical car was available as a four-door sedan or convertible sedan or two-door convertible.
In 1928 there was the ASL in addition to the AL and the ASK in addition to the AK . These vehicles had a larger engine with 3.1 liters and 55 hp.
In 1929 the ASL was replaced by the AFL and the ASK by the AFK . These models differed from their predecessors in that they had a three-speed gearbox and a slightly cheaper purchase price. The AFK was only available as a convertible sedan.
Around 10,000 of the A types were produced by 1930. The successor is the Brennabor Juwel 6 .
