Attila Csihar (2008)

Attila Csihar (born March 29, 1971 ) is a Hungarian singer, who became known through his work with the black metal band Mayhem .

biography

In his childhood Csihar listened to bands such as Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath and trained his singing. His musical career began in 1986 in the band Tormentor , which was influenced by groups such as Bathory and Destruction and was active until 1991. In 1993 Csihar took over the vocals on the Mayhem album De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas , one of the most important black metal albums. In the thirty-year history of Mayhem's band, he remained their only non-Scandinavian member.

When Mayhem was shut down for a few months in 1994 because of the murder of band leader Euronymous , he turned to experimental projects such as Plasma Pool, Aborym and Korog. In 2004 he recorded the vocals for the Sunn-O))) pieces Decay2 (Nihil's Maw) and Decay [The Symptoms of Kali Yuga] on the album White2 and accompanied the band on their European tour. In the same year Csihar became singer Mayhems again after singer Maniac had left this.

Csihar worked with Anaal Nathrakh , Keep of Kalessin , Limbonic Art , Kjetil "Frost" Haraldstad , Mayhem, Carpathian Forest and Skitliv . He also sings for Sunn O))) on the EP Oracle (2007), the live album Dømkirke (2008) and the album Monoliths & Dimensions (2009). In his solo project VoidOvVoices (or VoV for short) he worked with synthesizers, live sampling and loops.

Since 2016 he has been a vocalist for the international supergroup Sinsaenum .

Csihar is divorced and has two children. He lives in Budapest.
