Pure Fucking Armageddon is the first demo cassette by the black metal band Mayhem . It was recorded and published in 1986.

Emergence

The album was recorded in 1986 and was released in the same year on the band's own label Posercorpse, limited to 100 copies.

Style and content

The demo can be assigned to Black Metal ; Metalion compared it to the early demos of the German band Poison and the Hellhammer demos. The sound quality is extremely poor and the singing can hardly be heard. The later singer of the band, Per Yngve "Dead" Ohlin , names the English band Venom as the main influence for the demo and describes the lyrics of the time as Venom clones.

In Black Metal (Total Death Version) is a cover version of Venom's song Black Metal . The other lyrics deal with splatter themes that are typical of Death Metal ; that's why Metalion called Pure Fucking Armageddon "the goriest demo ever".

On the cover is the sculpture The martyred Jesus by Guido Rocha .

reception

The title of the album Pure Holocaust by the Norwegian band Immortal refers to Pure Fucking Armageddon . The band wanted a similarly extreme sounding title.
