Sven Erik Kristiansen (born February 4, 1969 ), also known under the pseudonym Maniac , is a Norwegian musician. He is the former singer of the black metal band Mayhem and still runs a few projects today.

Biography as an author and musician

In the 1980s, Maniac published Fanzine Damage Inc. , the first edition of which appeared in 1986. He also founded the one-man band Septic Cunts and released the demo Raped in Piss . He later formed a stable line-up. The second edition of the fanzine followed in 1987, when he was already at Mayhem. Both included interviews with Mayhem, among other things. After the first singer of the band Mayhem , Messiah, left this, he joined the band. He stayed there until 1988 when he was replaced by Kittil. Hellhammer invited him after the band was re-founded in 1995 to come back as a singer.

He was known for his intense appearances. When he had a particularly good feeling with the audience, he cut himself; so often he ended up in the hospital. But "when we found that cutting was becoming a phenomenon that people wanted to see, I stopped doing that". He also said the coverage of Mayhem was disproportionate. He also had a project called Voluspå, which released the demo recording Der totalen Krieg [sic!] And a split release with Robert X. Patriot via The Ajna Offensive.

Maniac was with Mayhem until 2004, when he was forced to leave the band. He had developed extreme stage fright and drank a lot before performing. He also cited lack of time as an important reason.

He is currently a member of the Black Doom band Skitliv , was a session member at Shining , sang for Bomberos and, together with his fiancée and Skitliv guitarist Ingvar Magnusson, runs the project Sehnsucht (formerly: Nova Express), for which Maniac later also runs Andrew Liles ( Nurse with Wound , Current 93 ) won.

Kristiansen has two children, a daughter from a previous relationship and a son with his ex-girlfriend Hilma. He said that since becoming a father, he was more aware of the things he was doing to himself and therefore less destructive.

He's an alcoholic . He decided to stop drinking when one day he was hanging by an arm out of a fourth floor window and had no idea how he got there. After this incident, he said he did not drink any more alcohol. He is currently with Vivian Slaughter engaged , the bass player and singer of the Japanese band Gallhammer is.
