style

Satyricon's Electric Renaissance consists of a riff from the song Prime Evil Renaissance , which Satyr reworked into a kind of short intro with distortions, industrial-like noise and a spoken text about extraterrestrial life.

Mirror Soul Jesus from the "Allstar" project Eibon is a thrash - and rock- heavy track that alternates between medium and low tempo and is somewhat reminiscent of Celtic Frost and, through Phil Anselmo's voice, of Pantera .

Stellar Master Elite is a song in the typical, industrial metal influenced style of recent Thorns songs.

With Crucified One , Gehenna continues the development towards Death Metal that began with the album Adimiron Black . Towards the end of the piece, the band uses a keyboard .

God of Disturbance and Friction of Darkthrone is a monotonous song in a style similar to their album Ravishing Grimness .

Thorns' You That Mingle May is an old demo track that Snorre W. Ruch recorded with Fenriz von Darkthrone on drums and Satyr on vocals. According to Ruch, the piece comes close to how it would have sounded in the early 1990s with vocals and drums. However, the sound is more like recent Thorns recordings.

Dødheimsgards Haemorrhage - Era One Reconstructed is partly based on material from the time of the debut album Kronet til konge . The piece begins with this, alienated by background noises, after 16 seconds abruptly changes into a technoid phase; after 42 seconds and a few cymbals there is a break, which is followed by a crossover phase in which simple guitar riffs and electronic elements are combined.

Walking Away From the End of the World is a collaboration between Satyr's solo project Wongraven and Espen Enger from Päronsoda . The trip-hop- style instrumental track features a riff from the Prime Evil Renaissance song and a few samples .

Supersonic Journey comes from Satyricon's album Rebel Extravaganza , on which the band distanced themselves from traditional Black Metal with foreign influences .

Dødheimsgards Traces of Reality from the EP Satanic Art and combines Black Metal with avant-garde elements such as the use of piano , violin and samples from the Twin Peaks series .

Ravishing Grimness is a medium tempo song from the album of the same name . Instead of blastbeats , Fenriz plays D-beats here .

Thorns' The Discipline of Earth combines black and industrial metal influences. The song comes from the split CD Thorns VS Emperor .

The Killing Kind from Gehenna's album Adimiron Black is an aggressive black / death metal track.

Emperors Ærie Descent is a Thorns cover from the shared split CD. The slow riffs are accompanied by keyboards, the vocals correspond to those of Emperor's own songs.

Mother North from Satyricon's nemesis Divina is a traditional, epic black metal style song with almost continuous double bass and blast beats of varying speeds.

Dødheimsgards Ion Storm from album 666 International mixes Black Metal with various elements, especially from Industrial Metal and Cybergrind . Combined with electronic elements, catchy rhythmic passages alternate with extremely fast blastbeat passages and result in a chaotic sound. The text is partly almost spoken, partly growled .

Reviews

The combination of very different songs resulted in mixed overall ratings. Deadleft from the Vönger webzine saw the titles of Satyricon, Darkthrone and Wongraven Vs Päronsoda as "total failures" and the acquisition as only conditionally worthwhile. Götz Kühnemund from the rock-hard magazine described the songs by Satyricon and Wongraven as “superfluous sound collages”, but the double CD as a whole was recommendable.
