The Estadio Nelson Oyarzún ( German Nelson Oyarzún Stadium ) is a football stadium in the Chilean city of Chillán , Región del Bío-Bío . It was opened in 1961 and offered space for 17,500 spectators. It was named after Nelson Oyarzún , a popular former coach of the local Deportivo Ñublense football club .
In 2007 the stadium was selected as the venue for the 2008 U-20 Women's World Cup . In order to meet the FIFA standards, the stadium was completely demolished and rebuilt. It was reopened on November 2nd, 2008 and now seats 12,000. In addition, all spectator stands are now covered.
The Estadio Nelson Oyarzún is one of eight stadiums for the 2015 U-17 World Cup .
