Brent Reiber

Brent Reiber (born December 31, 1966 in Lloydminster ) is a former professional Canadian ice hockey referee who directed games for the Swiss Ice Hockey Association between 1997 and 2014 .

Career

Brent Reiber began his career as an ice hockey referee in 1980 at the age of 13 and subsequently directed games in various youth leagues. From 1984 to 1986 he directed games in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and the Canada West Universities Athletic Association . He then got the opportunity to work as a referee in the junior league Western Hockey League , in which he worked until 1995. He then headed the 1996 Memorial Cup , the final tournament for the Canadian Hockey League championship . Following this, he was initially half a year in the Japan Ice Hockey League active before the Canadians moved in 1997 to Switzerland, where he has been as a professional referee for the Swiss Ice Hockey Association in the National League A works. In addition, he took part in the IIHF Referee Exchange Program in the 2005/06 season and was used in other European top leagues. In the 2008/09 season he was allowed to lead games of the Champions Hockey League at European level .

Since 1996, Reiber has also worked for the IIHF at international tournaments. From 2005 to 2009 he was used at each A World Championships, as well as at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver . His last season was in the National League A in 2014.
