The Brest-Zentralny passenger station is located in the city of Brest in Belarus on the Bug .

meaning

The station is a border station and re- gauging station on the most important Belarusian railway line to the west and is therefore regarded as the “gateway to the west” for Belarus and Russia, especially since rail traffic no longer passes through Eydtkuhnen as it used to be. Practically all long-distance trains and freight trains between the European Union and Minsk , Moscow , Saint Petersburg , the Trans-Siberian Railway and Kazakhstan pass through Brest station .

The following railway lines are connected to the railway network via the station by the Belaruskaja Tschyhunka (Belarusian Railway):

business

The Western European gauge of 1435 mm (" normal gauge ") and the Eastern European gauge of 1520 mm (" Russian broad gauge ") meet at Brest station . Therefore, the Brest train station is divided into a "western" and an "eastern" part. The station has extensive track systems, which are in large parts of the cityscape of Brest. The gauging systems are located in large wagons, into which the wagons to be gauged are pushed by shunting locomotives . In the halls, the bogies are released and the car bodies are raised. The bogies are now being replaced, and the coupling is also replaced before the wagons on new bogies leave the halls again. For container traffic , handling facilities have been created in recent years with which these containers can be moved from standard-gauge to wide-gauge flat wagons .
