Brett Goldin

Brett Goldin (born October 21, 1977 in South Africa , † April 16, 2006 in Cape Town ) was a South African film and theater actor.

Goldin was one of the stars of the South African hit film Crazy Monkey - The Movie (OT: Crazy Monkey Presents Straight Outta Benoni ). He started his film career in 2002 with Slash , followed by Adrenaline , Citizen Verdict , Proteus (all 2003) and Blast (2004) as well as the TV series Charlie Jade (2005). In 2004 he played a supporting role in the ZDF production Die Rosenzüchterin based on a novel by Charlotte Link .

Previously, Goldin, who also acted in the theater, was seen with four colleagues in small video spots that were broadcast on MTV. Crazy Monkey was created on the basis of these short films . He received top reviews for his work on the play Pick Upps .

In April 2006 Goldin was due to appear in Janet Suzman 's Shakespeare production Hamlet in Stratford-upon-Avon , UK . He had already packed his suitcases for the trip when he disappeared on the night of April 16. In the early morning of April 16, the bodies of Goldin and his friend, fashion designer Richard Bloom, were discovered in the Cape Town district of Mowbray . Before that, both of them had attended a party.

Both were killed with one shot each in the head. Except for their socks, they were naked, their clothes scattered around them. The bodies were discovered under three trees near the M5 highway at the exit to Klipfontein .

Only hours later, five young men allegedly involved in the crime were arrested. Three of them were picked up in a blue Peugeot for careless driving , one had Goldin's credit card with him. Two other men were arrested in Crawford, Athlone. They had led the police to the bodies. The motive for the murder is greed.

Goldin was buried in West Park Cemetery in Johannesburg .
