Half-timbered house at Brettener Strasse 10 in Eppingen

The half-timbered house at Brettener Strasse 10 in Eppingen , a town in the Heilbronn district in northern Baden-Württemberg , was built at the end of the 16th century. The building is protected as a monument .

description

The half-timbered structure of the house was exposed at the end of the 1980s and a modern shop was set up on the ground floor. The windows of the two half-timbered floors were also enlarged; you can still see the original size of the windows in the two attic floors. All floors protrude and you can see beautiful consoles with bulges and throats at the upper ends of the corner and collar studs . The Franconian man can be seen on the upper floor and in the gable triangle there are curved St. Andrew's crosses with noses and well-worn eyes. The upper attic forms a further increase with four crossing diagonal timbers with decorative shapes.

On one of the stone consoles on the gable side, on which the half-timbered beams rest, there is a figure with angel wings, who carries a shield-shaped inscription in her arms. On this are the initials of an owner and the year 1645. Since the building was probably built in the 16th century, the plaque probably indicates a change of ownership in that year. The winged figure can be understood as a figure of envy , which was given a Christian content with the wings.
