Brian Hibbard

Brian Hibbard (born November 26, 1946 in Ebbw Vale , † June 18, 2012 in Cardiff ) was a British singer and actor . He became known as the lead singer of the a cappella formation The Flying Pickets .

Career

Before starting his artistic career, Hibbard had a number of different professions, including teacher, steel worker and chimney sweep. In 1982 he was one of the founding members of the acapella formation The Flying Pickets , with whom he landed a number one hit as lead singer with the single Only You (originally by Yazoo ) in Great Britain and Germany .

In 1986 Hibbard left the Flying Pickets to pursue acting more. In particular, he has appeared in a number of British television series, including Coronation Street , Emmerdale and the soap opera Pobol y Cwm .

In 2000, Hibbard was diagnosed with prostate cancer, from which he died in June 2012. He left behind his wife, who is also an actress, and three children.
