Louis Brian Piccolo (* 31 October 1943 in Pittsfield , Massachusetts ; † 16th June 1970 in New York City , New York ) was an American American football poker players of the Chicago Bears in the National Football League (NFL). The 1.83-meter-tall running back played 51 games for the Bears before he was diagnosed with an incurable cancer in 1969 and died shortly afterwards. His number 41 has not been awarded by the Bears since then.

Piccolo's fate was filmed in the award-winning film Brian's Song (1971), in which he was portrayed by James Caan . Piccolo's special friendship with his colleague Gale Sayers was also discussed.
