Brian Shi (born February 24, 2000 in Jericho , New York ) is an American tennis player .

Career

Shi played on the ITF Junior Tour from 2013 to 2018 and was also able to take part in two junior grand slam tournaments there . In 2017 at the US Open and in 2018 in qualifying for the Australian Open , he lost in the first round. In January 2018 he was the highest in the junior world rankings at 62nd place.

After two quarter-finals in 2018 on the ITF Future Tour , Shi also placed in the regular tennis world rankings and came there up to 1193 in singles. In mid-2018 he began studying at Harvard University , where he also played college tennis and had a record of 39:21 in his first season.

In February 2020 he won a wildcard for the main draw of the New York Open , a tournament on the ATP Tour . Here Shi was defeated by the Briton Cameron Norrie 5: 7, 3: 6.
