Brice Owona (born March 4, 1989 in Yaoundé ) is a Cameroonian football player .

Career

Owona started his football career at the age of 12 in January 2002 with AS Fortuna Yaoundé . After three years he was finally discovered by a scout and from then on played at Cotonsport Garoua . With this club Owona was Cameroonian football champion in 2006 and managed to advance to the final of the CAF Champions League in 2008 .

The FC St. Gallen was for him the first commitment in Europe. He signed a contract on February 12, 2010 until June 30, 2012. Owona made his debut for the traditional club from Eastern Switzerland on February 12 in a friendly against FC Dornbirn 1913 . He played the first championship game for FCSG in the Axpo Super League after a substitution against Neuchâtel Xamax on the Maladière . In the 2009/10 season Owona was on the field for a total of 385 minutes of play and could not be celebrated once as a goal scorer in the dress of the "Espen". That was probably due to the fact that he often only came into play in very short missions, quasi as a "joker" and so was rarely able to develop scoring opportunities. In the 2012/13 season he then played two games for GC Biaschesi in the 1st League Classic . Since 2013 he has been playing for Union Douala in Cameroon.

Brice Owona took part with the Cameroonian U-20 team in the 2009 Junior World Cup in Egypt and was in the starting line-up in all three games in the preliminary round. In the technical report of the tournament he is listed as one of the outstanding players on his team and is described as a “quick attacker behind the front with a good overview and ball control”. Before that, he was already in the squad for the Junior African Football Championship and with two goals contributed to reaching the final, in which the Ghanaian youngsters lost 2-0.
