Mountain Falcon Brigade
The Mountain Falcon Brigade ( Arabic لواء صقور الجبل Liwāʾ Suqūr al-Jabal ) is a Sunni rebel group in northwestern Syria .
The brigade was founded by Hasan Hajj Ali, a former officer in the Syrian armed forces . It is part of the Free Syrian Army . According to her own statements, she had around 2500 fighters in her ranks in 2016.
The brigade has been trained by Turkish military personnel since 2014 . Financed by Saudi Arabia and Qatar , it was equipped with BGM-71 TOW guided missiles by the CIA and has since been one of the largest users of this weapon in the Syrian civil war .
At the beginning of the Russian military operation in Syria in October 2015, the headquarters of the brigade was hit by 20 missiles of the Russian Air Force . Months later, the brigade got into combat with the then newly founded DKS . Until then, the brigade had only fought against the Islamic State and the government troops of Bashar al-Assad .
In August 2016, she joined Operation Euphrates Shield under Turkish leadership.
