Brigitte A. Rollett

Brigitte A. Rollett (born October 9, 1934 in Graz ) is an Austrian psychologist and emeritus professor at the University of Vienna .

Life

Rollett studied psychology, education and philosophy at the University of Graz , in 1957 she received her doctorate. phil .; At the Psychological and Pedagogical Institute of the University of Graz, she worked as a study assistant at Ferdinand Weinhandl 's chair . After completing her psychotherapy training and her habilitation for the general subject psychology in 1964, also in Graz, she held professorships for educational psychology at the Osnabrück University of Education , the Kassel University and the Ruhr University Bochum . In 1979, Brigitte Rollett was appointed to succeed Sylvia Bayr-Klimpfinger as head of the department for developmental and educational psychology at the Institute for Psychology at the University of Vienna ; In addition, she became head of the “Center for Child, Youth and Family Psychological Intervention” affiliated with the department and a university kindergarten. Her retirement took place at the end of the academic year 2002/03.

Brigitte Rollett was visiting professor at the University of Friborg / Switzerland, she has held lectureships at the University of Klagenfurt and at the Sigmund Freud University in Vienna . In 1984 Brigitte Rollett organized the 34th Congress of the German Society for Psychology in Vienna . In 1993 she was founding president of the Austrian Society for Psychology (ÖGP) and the Federation of Austrian Associations of Psychologists in the International Union of Psychological Science . Rollett is also a member of the advisory board of BRAIN (= advice and information about special talents ), a talent diagnostic advice center under the direction of Prof. Dr. Detlef H. Rost at the Philipps University of Marburg .

Rollett is also president of the Society against Sect and Cult Dangers (GSK), founded in 1977, and works to educate people about the dangers that sects may pose . The managing director of the Federal Office for Sect Issues (Vienna), founded in 1998 , was a student with her, as was the managing director of the GSK, Martin Felinger.

Brigitte Rollett's research focuses on psychological diagnostics, the topics of motivation and learning, learning therapy and the development of learning therapeutic methods in educational counseling and family development. In the effort avoidance test she developed in cooperation with Mathias Bartram, effort avoidance is postulated as an independent motive, but this can also be seen as a variant of the motive of fear of failure.

She was also known for her widely published work on autism . In this context, she also spoke out against the method of supported communication .
